WS04 - Workshop on Digitalization of the Water Industry

Workshop Organized by

Marian Barbu, Dunarea de Jos University of Galati, Romania and Harsha Ratnaweera, Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Norway and George Ifrim, Dunarea de Jos University of Galati, Romania

Aims and Objectives

The severe impact of human activities on the water resources requires the need to increase the efficiency of water systems. With the rapid development of ICT tools in general, many new opportunities are becoming available also for the water industry. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers, scientists, and engineers from academia and from industry, to share knowledge, experience, and ideas in the field of monitoring and control of water systems. Theoretical and practical studies will be equally displayed.

Topics under this workshop include (but not limited to)

  • Theoretical and practical advances in modeling, simulation, and control of water systems
  • Surveillance and control techniques for water systems
  • Hierarchical control of water systems
  • Artificial intelligence applications for water systems
  • Impact of digitalization in water systems
  • Water quality monitoring and management
  • Life cycle assessment for water systems
  • Smart technology and IoT's impact on integrated water systems
  • Data-driven approaches for control and operation of water systems
  • Water systems operation for GHG emission minimization
  • Holistic approaches for water systems control and operation
  • Climate change impact from water systems
